Transportation
CAA offers Public Transportation services Monday-Friday from 7:30 am-3:30 pm throughout St. Landry & Lafayette Parishes. We may also accommodate neighboring parishes if the schedule permits.

Senior Companion
You must be 55 years of age or older to participate in this program as well as meet the appropriate income guidelines. The program is designed for the companions to offer companionship and support to the elderly of our parish by helping with daily tasks.
Volunteers are provided with a stipend every 2 weeks for 15 hours or more each week as well as transportation reimbursement. CAA holds several special events throughout the year to honor our volunteers!
Prescription Medication
$500.00 allowance towards any NEW prescription(s). We use several local pharmacies (Shute’s, Ken’s, Glenn’s, Carl’s, & Jagneaux’s) throughout St. Landry Parish.
Dental Assistance
$250.00 voucher to receive dental care (x-rays, exams, possible extractions) with Southwest Primary Healthcare or Dr. Willie Collins, DDS.
Senior Food
Seniors, 60 years or older, may call 1-800-522-3333 for more information.
This is an income-based program and boxes are issued MONTHLY at various locations throughout the parish.
Second Harvest Food Pantry
Community Action Agency has three (3) mobile food pantries a month in Eunice, Port Barre, and Opelousas, weather permitting. Please check the schedule for available dates and times. You may only attend one pantry per month.
Eye Exams/Vision
$300.00 voucher to Dr. Van Christian’s Optometry Clinic for a routine eye exam. Glasses, contact lenses, and other tests are not covered.
Emergency Food Boxes
The client or family will receive a box of non-perishable food items from our on-site pantry in the case of any emergency (fire, loss of job, etc.)
LIHEAP
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
When funds are available, CAA assists with utility payments for electric and/or gas bills. The Program is income based and is by APPOINTMENT ONLY.
We also offer the Power to Care program for Entergy customers as well as CLECO C.A.R.E.S. for CLECO customers.
Medicaid Applications
CAA is a Certified Medicaid Application Center for individuals to apply for Medicaid Insurance coverage.
Applicants may call to schedule an appointment and will be served within 3-5 business days. For more information about Medicaid, please visit ldh.la.gov.
Fingerprinting Services
Offered to Department of Education (DOE) employees who have previously completed prior background check information with their employer.
Emergency Food & Shelter
(FEMA) When funds are available, CAA assists clients with utilities (electric, gas, & water) as well as rent or mortgage payments. APPOINTMENT ONLY.
