St Landry Parish Council to Hold Public Hearing

| OPELOUSAS — A public in-person hearing on millage rates will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, at the Old City Market Building, located at 131 West Bellevue Street in Opelousas.

The hearing will focus on the St. Landry Parish Council’s proposal to levy additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum.

The Council could see an estimated increase of $5,809,311.79 in tax revenues if the proposal passes.

The public is invited to attend and provide comments at the public hearing, which is required by state law.  Organizers say social distancing will be in place and ask that those attending wear a mask.
