BATON ROUGE – The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, along with St. Landry Parish Emergency Preparedness, is asking residents who had damage due to the winter weather event to report that damage through GOSHEP’s self-reporting tool.

The self-reporting survey, located at damage.la.gov, will help local and state emergency managers collect data to move forward with the recovery process.

“We are encouraging all residents and businesses that experienced damage to report it,” said St. Landry Parish Emergency Preparedness Director Van Reed. “Reporting the damage helps the state become eligible for FEMA Individual Assistance.”

Reed said accessing the site from your mobile device allows you to post photos of your damage. Up to three images can be uploaded to the survey, and those photos help the state determine if the damage is minor or significant.

This step should not replace reporting damage to your insurance agency.

The survey is voluntary and does not guarantee any federal disaster relief assistance. It will be beneficial in assisting with the damage assessment process in Louisiana related to this event.
